The National Archaeological Maritime Museum

Are you ready to dive into history and uncover the secrets held by the sea? The National Museum of Sea Archaeology in Caorle takes you on a fascinating journey through centuries of history, featuring extraordinary artifacts from the Adriatic and the Caorle coast.

Submerged treasures and ancient civilizations

On the first floor, you will find a precious collection of artifacts telling the history of Caorle and the surrounding territories, from the Bronze Age to the modern era. Objects, handcrafted goods, and archaeological evidence reveal the evolution of this land facing the sea, amidst trade exchanges, ancient cultures, and maritime influences.

The Mercurio shipwreck: an immersive experience

If naval history and underwater archaeology fascinate you, an extraordinary interactive experience awaits you on the ground floor, dedicated to the brig Mercurio, a Napoleonic warship sunk during the Battle of Grado in 1812. Thanks to videos, virtual reality, and full-scale reconstructions, you can relive the story of the shipwreck, examine an ancient cannon up close, and even virtually dive into the underwater excavation site.

A museum for everyone

The National Museum of Sea Archaeology is not just a destination for history buffs, but an engaging attraction for families, schools, and visitors of all ages. Interactive stations, guided tours, and educational workshops make the experience even more immersive.

How to get there

The pedestrian entrance is located at the small roundabout next to the Saetta bridge. You can park at the Ecopark (Via F. Gallini): the pedestrian path will guide you directly to the facility's entrance.
